On eBay and other sources one sees a lot of OTR for sale. With MP3 a lot of
shows can be compressed onto on CD. [removed]

...Am I the only one who really doesn't want to listen to 1000 Amos 'Andy
Shows? Or 250 Dragnet? Or whatever?

I'd like to see some of these packagers put together disks with a variety of
shows --comedy, drama, mystery, etc. all randomly arranged. Rather like the
way radio really was. It gets tiring listening to the same characters show
after show after show.

I know, I could listen to a few and then try another disk. But then I have
to remember where I was.

No, give me disks with a variety of shows all mixed together.

Rant over. We return you now to the regularly scheduled program.

together. Blame the darned illness.) --cfs3]

From: John Mayer <mayer@[removed];

There's a great episode of Benny's t*l*visi*n show in which he
visits Bergen's home and is welcomed by a young Candace around 8 or
so. As I recall - and it's been a very long time - Benny becomes a
little concerned over young Candy's overly credulous references to
Charlie and Mortimer, fearing she actually believes they are alive.
Then they walk into the room.

I have that show, but Candace isn't in it. Benny goes there to see Bergen, and Bergen isn't
home. While Bergen's wife entertains Jack, Charlie McCarthy walks into the room, and Jack
is dumbfounded that Charlie is real. Later, Mortimer Snerd walks in the same way.

There was also an act on the Milton Berle show in which Charlie admits to Berle that he's
really the ventriloquist and Bergen is the dummy. Charlie points to a large black case, which
Berle opens and finds a lifeless Bergen inside.

If COLLECTORS CHOICE really wants to sell a bunch of Mel Blanc
[removed] some of these stories.

A few years ago we released Rusty in Orchestraville on CD. The response was
very good and record companies in Canada started sending us customers.
Since then we have about two dozen old children's classics on CD. Some even
have the picture book that came with the records included as a pdf file
right on the CD. Check out our web site for several Bugs Bunny albums.

Showcase this year was both relaxing and loads of fun - and after
finally getting to meet Hal Stone face-to-face, I've decided that it
is entirely appropriate to name my next kid after him. :-)

Just an addendum, Candace Bergen was actually one of the ORIGINAL
"guest" hosts of NBC's SATURDAY NIGHT (later, of course, SATURDAY NIGHT
LIVE), going back to the show's debut in the Fall of 1975. She became
much beloved by the cast, for her professionalism and sense of humor,
and was one of their all-time favorite participants.

(I can remember an early bit spoofing Catherine Deneuve's ads for

I'll see Bergen around Manhattan, so she's certainly in the area, if
someone would want to try inviting her to the Newark show. And I would
guess that Bergen and her husband also maintain some type of residence,
in Los Angeles.

I just listed to "The Cinnamon Bear" and noticed that the snowman toward the

Arthur Godfrey couldn't have teased Bing about HI-C
because that product and Minute Maid have always been
known by those respective brands.

"MM" was a manufactured by the Florida Foods
Corporation and was christened by a Boston area ad
agency in 1945. Crosby came on board in 1948 with a
15-minute "DJ" show and invested heavily in the
company. By 1950 "MM" set up a west coast distibution
division in Los Angeles and named as Bing president of
the division.

"Hi-C" on the other hand has always been a product of
the Coca-Cola Company and was introduced in 1948. Coke
bought Minute Maid in 1960 and Crosby made a tidy sum.
He was so associated with the product by then that he
continued to make commercials for them until his death
in 1977.

Perhaps this will work - nothing fancy in this email account -

I'm asking for advice on using "A Look to the Future" script - I want to
present a live radio play in honor of Fran Striker on July 30th. Do I need
permission from Classic Media is my question; how do the FOTR deal with
coyrighted material?

Thanks!
