I not only remember the "Radio Fills" as they were called, but ran many of
them as an engineer at WITF for 34 years (1973-2007). The short fill pieces
were intended to fill the time of programs which were short because the
commercials were removed. They were produced locally by a good friend and
colleague, David Walker. I remember the production, he had the original
radio program segments, and then had people bring in their old radio sets.
He then used a "Ken Burns" technique of slow pull outs and push ins and cuts
to give the effect that two radios were "talking" to each other. Very
entertaining. I believe I have a copy of those fills somewhere, if only I
can find it.
