Subject: Georgia governors

Thanks to all who took the time to respond to my question on the Jack Benny
gag regarding the Georgia governor controversy. I suppose I could have looked
it up myself, but hey, it's more fun getting the answer from this community.
And once I was reminded of it, I do seem to recall this topic coming up in
years past. So, maybe in another 10-15 years, I'll come across that episode
again and wonder, "What the heck was going on in Georgia ...?"

BTW, I wonder how many folks would agree with me that the postwar Benny show
right up until the end in 1955 was the show's best period. I know the show in
the '30s has its adherents, but for me, the wit and spectacular running gags
(racetrack tout, yeessss, si-sigh, the vault, train announcer, etc, etc, etc)
of the later period just take it to another level.
Alan
