I wonder if anyone has details about Dorothy Kilgallen's ABC radio
program from this
era and how long it lasted?

As most OTR researchers recommend, just keep a copy of Jay Hickerson's
"Ultimate Guide of Network Radio" on the shelf above your computer and
you'll be able to answer at least half of the questions posted on the
Digest.

Jay's entries for her shows are as follows:

"Dorothy Kilgallen, aired 9-18-47 to 7-28-49 on ABC, sponsored by
Drakett Company, 15 minute show once a week on Thursdays (One
surviving show)"

"Breakfast with Dorothy & Dick (with Dorothy Kilgallen and Richard
Kollmar) aired 4-14-45 to 3-21-63 on WOR, mostly local. (29 shows
available, mostly from 1956)"

Glenn Mueller is quite correct in saying that Ronald Reagan and Spike Jones
were guests on Bing's 'Kraft Music Hall' on 16 April 1942 BUT, as I stated in
my previous posting, Sabu was also a guest on that show. It lasted 60
minutes and I have just listened to it again. In his opening Ken Carpenter
says
that "Bing's distinguished visitors this evening include ... Ronald Reagan
...Spike Jones ... and Sabu, the Elephant Boy". Later Bing, in introducing
Sabu
(in a sketch with Mary Martin), says that "his most recent release 'Jungle
Book' opens in Hollywood this evening" Mr Osterholm's book should have named
3
guests for that show and not just 2
John.
