I am wondering if anybody knows of any other instances where old
radio recordings have been overdubbed with new music? If so, I'd be
interested to know the details.

Well, just today, as part of the background music in some restaurant,
I could swear I heard Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" re-dubbed with
a disco beat. (Yuck!)

Luckily, I also heard Bing & the Andrews Sisters do a jazzy version
of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" which almost made up for the other.

Didn't Bing record a Christmas song with rock star David Bowie?

Hello, friends.
I am looking for a room mate to sahre room expenses with me at the upcoming
Cincinnatti Convention in April, 2008. This may be the only way I can attend
this year, so please let me know if you have a desire to room with someone in
order to cut costs for yourself.
Happy holidays!

Subject: Orson Welles on YouTube

The other day I ran across this clip of Orson Welles from a Dean
Martin t--------n show which I thought was very funny, where Orson is
the star (and director) of a radio show and Martin is the harried sound man.

Here is a link to an AFRS rebroadcast of We Hold These Truths. Does this have
the original cast or a different cast?

Another retelling of the famous story about Mae on the Bergen/McCarthy

Subject: Reissued Radio

Larry Jordan asked about radio recordings cleaned up an re-released: When television began
eclipsing radio as the advertiser's medium of choice the networks dropped the full-orchestra and
studio audience shows for 15-minute strip programming. Bing Crosby would patter around some of his
commercial Decca releases and all new songs were done with the Buddy Cole Trio, which,
unfortunately, often included Cole playing a Hammond organ.

After Crosby's death in 1977, his last recording producer, Ken Barnes, acquired about a dozen of
these songs and had Pete Moore record full orchestration tracks to cover the trio. (And I do mean
COVER. Crosby was an old band singer and refused to use an isolation booth when recording.) The
results were quite satisfactory.

Supposedly Michael Finestein was at work on a Crosby-Rosemary Clooney project in 2002 but I don't
believe it was ever released.

To add to Larry Jordans remarks to Jim Reeves recordings by Voice Masters. A
word of warning. In March of 2003 I ordered these recordings at credit card
charge of $[removed] for a total of 5 cd's. I received cd #1 and #2 with a note
that #3 would be sent shortly and the final two cd's would be sent in about 2
1/2 months. I have yet to receive the last two cd's. As Larry noted the
recordings are excellent. As I stated just a word of warning. Roger Smith
