Subject: Yours Truly, Jimmy Harmon

YOURS TRULY, JIMMY HARMON
I appreciate Martin Grams Jr.'s interest in my science fiction writing. I
wrote about fifty short stories and novelets during the fifties and sixties,
and I continue to do an occasional one up to the present day. Some of my
tarries of a fantasy type have appeared up through 2007 in the anthology
series I edit, "It's That Time Again" in which Martin Grams has also
appeared. Another fantasy story appeared in the softbound collection "Weird
Trails" (that's with a T for trailin' West), Same year a collection of my SF
short stories appeared as the soft cover, 'Harmon's Galaxy". Last year a
collection with one brand new novel and seven shorts from over several
decades appeared as "The Contested Earth, and other SF stories". Going back
some years my work appeared in earlier SF anthologies such as "Fourth Galaxy
Reader', "Galaxy: Thirty Years of Speculative Fiction", "Rare Science
Fiction" etc. These stories originally appeared in Galaxy SF, Fantasy & SF,
Amazing Stories, Future, etc. I also wrote a few Westerns for such magazines
as Double-Action Western, and many detective and crime stories for Smashing
Detective, Pursuit, etc. A number of my sexy mystery novels have been
reprinted, slightly revised by me, eight so far, by Ramble House in trade
editions, and have received good reviews from serious critics like Jon L.
Breen in Ellery Queen's Magazine, and Gary Lovisi in one of his books
Between my books on old time radio, and all these reprints, practically
everything I have evver written is in print, or soon will be. Of course, I
have had a modest output to someone like Edgar Rice Burroughs, Walter Gibson
or the present day Richard Lupoff. Anyone interested can buy any of these
books from me, and some through [removed] I appreciate Martin's interest
and that of anyone else concerned. -- JIM HARMON

One of the half hour radio shows and a children's record which I
still have called "The Case that Made Preston a Sergeant" has a
line: "Constable Bill Preston hoped this would be the case that
made him a [removed]" In my book, Great Radio Heroes, I made him
the more formal Sergeant William Preston.

I suspect that the Wikipedia writer got the name from your book.

I remember buying your book and reading it back in the late 1960s. I
listened to the Lone Ranger and Sergeant Preston on the radio when
they were still new episodes. I read your book and re-read it, and
it played a big part in getting me into otr as a hobby.
