Subject: Cincinnati Fund Raiser
For those who are not aware, Bob Burchett is once again funding the
Cincinnati Old-Time Radio Convention. This will mark the 24th year and it is
his intention to see it all the way to 25. This year's dates are April 7 to
8, 2010. And as usual, a bunch of people informally show up on the 6th or 5th
to hang out before the party starts. Sort of a pre-bash before The Bash. Held
at the Atrium Hotel, same hotel as last year (513) 771-7171.
Like all conventions, it takes money to operate a convention. The hotel rooms
are rented, Celebrities are flown in, and this costs money. Last year, as a
result of a hotel that closed doors without his knowledge, he was forced to
find a replacement within days and the costs involved put a crimp on him.
This year, Bob could use a little help. Few people like to make a donation
without getting something in return. PBS is known for the pledge drive so I'd
like to put one on of my own.
I recently signed a contract with DuPont, who retains the trademarks and
copyrights for many of the CAVALCADE OF AMERICA episodes, and finally got the
last contract from the literary estates for copyright clearance (both script
and artists). My 1998 book will be updated with TONS of new info, additional
cast, loads of trivia, making the expanded edition worthy of purchase even if
you already have the 1998 edition. I'm actually excited about it, since I
gathered additional info for the past ten years and tons of interviews with
Hollywood celebrities who remembered being on the show. I also gathered over
200 photos from the series. But the additional information is tremendous. The
revised edition won't be available until 2011. But I still have a few hundred
copies of the 1998 edition in stock, and since the book is out of print, I'd
like to clean house.
Anyone who wants a copy of the 1998 edition, the price is $20 plus $4
postage. Not only can you get it signed by the author, but 100% of the
purchase price (subtracting the initial printing cost) will be donated to Bob
in the form of a check at the end of the month. This is actually the first
time any of my books have been discounted. Usually when they go out of print,
the price goes up. This is an exception. Every little bit helps and Bob could
use it. Check or money order can be made payable to OTR Publishing, Po Box
52, Churchville, MD 21028 or Paypal using my e-mail address as my Paypal ID.
