Subject: The First "The Second Mrs. Burton"

As Jim Cox tells you in his authoritative and highly readable THE GREAT RADIO
SOAP OPERAS [McFarland, 1999], Sharon Douglas was the first of the four
actresses who played Terry Burton, the heroine of "The Second Mrs. Burton."
This soap opera, with the most unusual title, was the last of its kind ---
the last "washboard weeper" to be aired.

Douglas is featured in an interview held with her son about Edward Nassour in
the October/December issue of FILMFAX. Sharon Douglas was married to Nassour,
the producer of such films as "Africa Screams" and "The Lost Continent."

Her son notes that his parents were introduced by Rudy Vallee, and that
Vallee actually became his Godfather. He discusses Douglas' radio work and
how he used to accompany her "to the big NBC radio studio located on Sunset
and Vine where I'd sit up in the sound booth with the engineers. I was about
five or six and was quite taken aback by all the various dials and controls
on the console."

There are other anecdotes, which I am sure OTR fans would enjoy reading.
