Subject: New Casey Show Listing?
This dealer has a set that lists what would be a new Casey show:
Casey - Crime Photographer 05/14/1946 "The Merry-Go-Round Murder"
[removed];CategoryId=1
I'm suspicious of the listing ---- it's a show from a week that the log in
the Dave Siegel/Randy Cox book "Flashgun Casey" says was pre-empted; it's
also the title and date of a circulating Boston Blackie episode.
There is a missing Casey show 7/28/49 with a similar title, "Murder-Go-Round"
Does anyone have this set and might possibly shed some light on this? I've
written to the company and have not received an answer. I checked the listing
again before I sent this and it's still the same.
Regards to all
Joe Webb

Subject: Personalized Plates
I just renewed my VA plates with another personalized set relating to
OTR. In Ol' Virginny, they charge the same fee for every new
personalized plate each year as they do for a simple renewal with
stickers so I figure, "If you're going to charge me for a new one
anyway, make me a new one."
My expiring plates are H BAR O, which Bobby Benson fans know was the
original designation for the ranch during the 30s CBS version. In
keeping with the Cowboy Kid theme, this year I chose HARKA, in
tribute to Bobby's Native American ranch hand and tracker at the B
Bar B.
Looking over my selections in the past fourteen years, I've had many
obvious OTR personalized plates, but also some that the unwary might
have had some difficulty pondering the meaning. Here's my former VA
plates, which may inspire Digesters in other states to try sometime:
OTR FAN, DR IQ, LUV OTR, MR KEEN, EZ ACES, XMINUS1, SKY KNG, BOX 13,
RENFRU, P NOVAK, INFO PLS, STR8 ARO, and MR MOTO.
Once a personalized plate has been issued, Virginia will never later
re-issue the same designation to any one else so I've never been able
to get: TOM MIX, B BAR B, D TRACY, RD RYDR, or PHYL CO. But the one I
really want has also never been available, YU 28209, so somewhere in
my state, another Candy Matson fan is driving around with those
plates on his (her?) car.

This Thursday (April 23rd), my husband, my aunt and I will be heading to the
OTR & Nostalgia Convention on Cincinnati, OH. We'll be there on Friday and
are very much looking forward to it. This is our first OTR & Nostalgia
Convention. I'm sure I'll find hundreds of radio programs and books about
OTR. Can't wait til Friday! I'll tell you all about it when we return on
Saturday.
