Hi all
A researcher has contacted me to post his question to the OTR Digest: Does
anyone know who has the literary rights of Jean Holloway? Or where he could
ask about those rights?
If so, please contact me off list _JJLjackson@[removed]_

Thank you.

As we all know, "The Goldbergs" began on radio and then transferred to
television.
The first DVD collection devoted solely to "The Goldbergs" will be
released by Timeless Media Group on April 15th. Called simply "The
Goldbergs," this 2-DVD set will feature 10 half-hour TV episodes for

My memory stirs -- not because of a radio show, however! There was a
television show called "The 21st Century", sponsored by Union Carbide
("The Discovery Company" -- they had FASCINATING commercials!) and
narrated by Walter Cronkite. One of the episodes was "The Little Red
Schoolhouse", about the future of education, including advances in
computers (they had a computer SINGING, which was Big Stuff back then,
although, given the right software, even my primitive 8-bit Commodore-64
could have done it.) :)
I can't help wondering: could there possibly be any connection between
the two shows -- the radio show, and the TV show so many years later???
I know it doesn't sound likely. But while I don't know, offhand, which
network "The 21st Century" was aired on, I can't get it out of my head
that it, too, may have been a product of [removed]

With word that the indomitable John Rayburn's OTR & TV memories have just been
published as "Cat Whiskers and Talking Furniture" from McFarland, I'm happy to
note that Mr. Rayburn will be making a triumphant return (after a few years
off) to next month's Cincinnati OTR & Nostalgia Convention. John's a great
entertainer, storyteller, and spoonerist. For my money JR's the world's
greatest living practicing [removed] of the stories originating in
the 1930s by Colonel Lemuel Q. Stoopnagel.
With the news this past December of the passing of the founder of political
satire group The Capitol Steps -- the guy who also did the spoonerisms for the
PBS Capitol Steps TV specials -- John's undisputed reign as THE master
spoonerist goes on (not that I ever accorded any huzzahs on to the Capitol
Steps guy).

Subject: Boombox with "resume" feature
Recently, I believe there was a request about the availability of a
boombox with "resume" capability (being able to shut off the power
and having the CD pick up from exactly where it had left off). I am
also interested in purchasing such an item. Please reply via the
"OTR Digest" or via my email address if you can help me. Thanks!
