Subject: Gerald Mohr as Johnny Dollar?

Tonight on Wisconsin Public Radio, they presented part five of a five part
Johnny Dollar program, The Trans-Pacific Arson Matter. Johnny Dollar wasn't
played by Bob Bailey, as I would have expected, but Gerald Mohr. In the
introduction to the program, the announcer said, "Tonight, and every night,
Gerald Mohr in the adventures of the man with the action packed expense
account." Was Gerald Mohr ever a regular Johnny Dollar, or was this a
one-shot for whatever reason (sickness, etc.)?

Thanks in advance,

1933 - Charlie Chan was heard for the final time on the NBC Blue network
after only six months on the air. Not to worry. Several revivals of the
Chinese detective were on the air years later

Does anyone out there know whether this project is still alive??
Any information would be much appreciated.

Subject: Television to Radio

During our bi-monthly meeting of the Milwaukee Area Radio Enthusiasts on
Sunday, the question came up, what television programs went to radio instead
of the more common radio to television. We came up with the most obvious "Have
Gun, Will Travel" and "My Little Margie." We also know that a pilot was made
for "I Love Lucy", but was never aired. I must assume that there are more, but
for the life of me I cannot come up with any others, can you help?

Thanks.

In a message dated 5/19/02 10:30:01 PM, Ryan Osentowski writes:

I was listening to an episode of The Whistler and during the introduction,
Marvin Miller said they had a lot of fun with jack Benny playing, The
Fiddler.
I'm assuming this was probably a parody of The Whistler on the Jack
Benny Program. I'd love to hear it! Can someone tell me more about it?

***"The Fiddler" sketch appeared in the 02/26/50 broadcast of THE JACK BENNY
PROGRAM which is included in RSI's COMEDY FROM THE GOLDEN AGE OF RADIO
60-show collection (which can sometimes be found at Sam's Club or Costco
membership warehouses for under $[removed] and also at substantial discounts at
Target). The radio show also features The Whistler himself as portrayed by
Bill Forman. Jack later redid "The Fiddler" sketch on one of his TV shows
which also showcased sound-effects artist Ray Erlenborn, as memory serves. --

I'd be interested in learning of any radio adaptations of "Dr. Jekyll
and Mr. Hyde."

Any information would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Actually Seargent X was Howard Duff, later to become Sam Spade, husband of
Ida Lupino & all around general movie character actor.
