Subject: 100 years of Ginger on Those Were the Days

Fans of the Golden Age of movies are invited to join us on "Those Were the
Days" this Saturday afternoon for a salute to the radio work of Ginger
Rogers, on the 100th anniversary of her birth. Now in its 42nd year, "Those
Were the Days" is heard live every Saturday from 1 to 5 pm CST at WDCB-FM
([removed] to Chicagoans, [removed] everywhere else) and each broadcast is archived
for a week at [removed].

Subject: A shamefully obvious commercial

As there are, no doubt, new members/readers of this list, I wanted to let
you know that I maintain a website called "The Golden Age of Radio - WTIC!"

In the 1970's, with declining listenership at night, WTIC in Hartford, CT,
determined that there was a market for long-form shows that could be
packaged and sold to sponsors. Dick Bertel proposed "The Golden Age of
Radio" and Arnold Dean suggested "A One Night Stand with the Big Bands."
WTIC management accepted the ideas, and in 1970 the programs debuted.

The Golden Age includes interviews with old-time radio personalities,
producers, writers, including Mel Blanc, Jan Miner, Goodman Ace, Rudy
Vallee, Hans Conreid, and excerpts from the programs they were involved in -
91 hours in all, available for download.

A One Night Stand consists of interviews with the likes of Artie Shaw, Harry
James, Duke Ellington, and their music - at total of 42 one-hour shows.

In addition, there are other special features related to old-time radio, and
the best part is the downloads are all free; there's no advertising, you
don't even have to register. Just go to [removed]
and enjoy the programs. If you'd like, drop me an email to let me know
you've been there and what you think.

We now return to our regularly scheduled posts.
