On Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at 06:18 PM, Dick Fisher wrote:

While I lived in Chicago from 1965 to 1976 I frequently listened to
American Airlines Music Till Dawn. It was a late night show and I
understand was done in many major cities in the USA with different
announcers in each city. Does anyone have any copies of this program -
particularly from
Chicago? Does anyone know how long this show was broadcast?

Dipping once more into Jay Hickerson's exhaustive compendium (3rd
Revised Ultimate OTR History) we read that this series was aired by CBS
from 4-13-53 to 1-1-70, six times a week for six hours beginning at
midnight. The principle announcer was Bob Hall at WCBS in New York,
but other major cities served by American Airlines, the sponsor, could
substitute their own local talent at the mike, if they wished. While
one would assume that a show occurring this recently would have left
some audio copies for us to enjoy today, apparently this is not the
case. Or at least, none have yet surfaced.

My programs lists don't show a Fibber show on Nov 16, 1951. I am also
looking for this great bit. Help please!

Thanks, JLF

I guess I wasn't clear enough in my offering of the broadcast date. This
show was NOT an episode of the "Fibber McGee and Molly" series. It was a
special broadcast aired by NBC to commemorate its 25th anniversary, and Jim
and Marian Jordan were given the honor of hosting it, in character. The
premise of the show was that Fibber was trying to fix an old radio, and in
the process he kept tuning in signals from the past.

Subject: Kiddie Records Web site

I found a very interesting Web site the other day:

[removed]

The site hosts a wealth of recordings of old children's records now
committed to mp3s. Many of the recordings feature some of OTR's best -- among
them, Orson Welles, Harold Peary, Bing Crosby, Roy Rogers, and Boris Karloff.
I was very surprised at how much is available on the site. I hope it brings
back some great memories to other subscribers.

In an article written by Harry Bartell entitled "Struts & Frets" he mentions
his involvement in a radio show
called Fiesta from the 1940's starring Olga San Juan & Bob Graham.
I'm happy to tell you that both are alive and well living in Los Angeles, Bob
Graham was also involved with
"Duffy's Tavern" and other notable radio shows of that era as a singer. He
went on to make a couple of movies
and he can be heard singing the end song to the movie "Rear Window"
