Subject: Lum and Abner question
In answer to Marty Dowell's question, I believe the act was "Pick and Pat."
Yes, the transcription discs exist - somewhere. 21 years ago (this week, I
think), when Sam Brown and I rescued the collection of "Lum and Abner"
transcriptions, we found those among the Keystone discs we were moving.
Sadly, those are no longer available to us. Whether someone else has
transferred them I do not know. My understanding is P&P was an "Amos 'n'
Andy"-style show, but I'm sure others can expand on that. I never got to hear
those discs.

Hi Everybody,
I wasn't around during the heyday of radio but I happily listen
to them now. It always amazes me that some shows like Duffy's Tavern or say
the Falcon ran for years but there is only a limited amount of shows
available. Why?
Jack Benny ran for ages and there is a plethora of his shows
[removed] someone enlighten me?
Also a year or so back they
found disks & disks of old radio shows I think it was connected w/the
military. No new radio shows were found?
Thanks
Sandra

Subject: Re: Elaine Hyman
Thanks to everybody for all the responses to my request regarding Elaine
Hyman. I know somebody whose mother was good friends with Elaine, and he is
looking for recordings of radio shows that she appeared in. I volunteered to
help, which is the reason for my initial message to the Digest. I've had a
lot of fun finding out more about her, and I really appreciate the
information and memories you have shared. I was able to find and listen to
an interview that Larry Gassman and Walden Hughes did with Elaine, and she
seems like such a lovely lady.
If you'd like to hear the interview, it's on the REPS Podcast here:
