Subject: Exploring Tomorrow
Hmmm ... I thought I posted this here, but I didn't see it come through.
There's been a couple of developments not reflected [yet] on the website: I
received a scan of the ad from Astounding and, besides George O. Smith,
found another author who published his Exploring Tomorrow script -- John
Jake's published "The Stranger With Roses" in a same titled playbook with
The Dramatic Publishing Co. in 1972; and in "Infinity Four", edited by
Robert Hoskins for Lancer [and Larry Shaw?] in 1972. Predictably, Roger
Elwood also placed it in his "Six Science Fiction Plays" (Washington Square
Press, 1976). No source story that I can find

Lots of questions, besides the missing writer, cast and summary data.
Like -- who is John Fleming, and what's his connection with John Campbell,
if any?
There's about six different JFs with literary backgrounds. I *think* our man
is responsible for these two items:
Official adventures of the Shadow [sound recording] / written by John
Fleming, 1968
Death Begs the Question by Lois Eby and John Fleming [Abelard Press, NY,
1952]
And I'd love to get a scan of the ad for this radio series that ran in
Astounding, April 1958.
Plus any active links to the online Exploring Tomorrow, Dimension X, Audion
Theatre, etc. shows mentioned in the text that I missed.
And matching up those 'mystery' catalog listings at the end of my page.
And so on and so on
Art Lortie

Subject: Jack Benny on Groucho "You Tube" Session
Just finished watching the Benny excerpt on You Tube. Great stuff - am going
back to watch more. In this case, the lady with "Rodney" is a very familiar
face, but I can't put a name with the face. I believe this lady, based on
her age and familiarity of face, may be from the old radio age. Anyone know?
Thanks in advance.

Randy Larson asks:
First question: When did they begin electronically transcribing the
repeat broadcast, instead of performing two live shows on Sundays?
I have a discussion of this in "39 Forever", but the short answer is that
the famous flubs ([removed], chiss sweeze, grass reek, Drear Pooson) all happened
after the second show transcribing started. Sometimes just barely after.
So if that's your first question, what's your second question?
