On the June 23, 1942 episode of Fibber McGee and Molly, Fibber locks the
keys to his suitcase inside the suitcase. He ponders how to get it open, and
suggests using dynamite.

I suppose there was no logic to that show, but did they explain how
Fibber could have locked the keys inside the suitcase without using the key?

This does remind me of a Milton Berle Show that I saw in the late 1960s
(he was on ABC for a season or so), where Lucille Ball locked Berle in a
steamer trunk. He asked Lucy to let him out, and Lucy asked where the
key was. Berle said, "Here in my pocket." With Berle in that dillema,
they broke for a commercial. When they came back from the commercial,
Lucy was hosting in place of Berle, and then Berle appeared. "How did
you get out?" asked Lucy. "I hired a lawyer," replied Berle.

Well, "proper name" may not be the right term. Surely "Fibber" is a nickname,
perhaps one given to a man who was known for telling a tall tale or two. Was
Fibber McGee's Christian name (or his formal first name, to put it another
way)
ever mentioned on the show?

Bryan, thanks for the tip on "The Unsuspected," which I'd never heard of.
Alas, I don't get TCM, but I discovered that the DVD-on-demand service from
Warner Brothers will burn you a copy of the film for $20, which is less than
Amazon charges for the same service.
