Subject: Foreign Language OTR Question
Greetings. A question I haven't seen, that came to my mind today: are there
any non-English language OTR sources that might be interesting to us English
speaking OTR fans? Especially, I am thinking of any old Russian or "Red" OTR
(that is, what was OTR like "behind the Iron Curtain" in Stalin's pre-WWII
Russia, and in post-WWII Eastern Bloc countries?) Any French Underground /
Resistance recordings that survived WWII? Also, what about OTR from Red China
from 1946 on, and esp. during the Mao "Reign of Terror?". How about English
broadcasts and Japanese radio during post-WWII reconstruction in Japan? I am
thinking of non-AASRN broadcasts (no American Armed Services Radio Network
broadcasts, just more localized radio).
I think it would be fascinating to know more about the international OTR
scene, especially because I grew up with the impression that Eastern Bloc /
Communist OTR consisted only of just propaganda, without any entertainment.
There surely must have been some sort of Soapers or other entertainment "over
there", even if it was just thinly disguised propaganda. Any thoughts, or
sources / books / recordings about the "Dark Age" of OTR "Over There?" Thanks
in advance!
Damon

Erik Bauersfeld, the voice of General Akbar ("It's a trap!") in Return of the
Jedi and The Force Awakens, has passed away. Obits mention that he was a
long-time radio actor, but I haven't seen any specifics mentioned. Does
anyone know of any radio credits for him?
Cheers,Kermyt
