Dave Parker has been working on this project since 2004, and he has
finally completed it.
Looking for something to give your old-time-radio friends and family thatb
s truly unique? David Parker, who not only performed on the Lone Ranger, he
wrote his dissertation on it, has been working for years on interviewing
people who were in the business of broadcast radio. His film, bRemembering
Radiob, has just been finished and released on DVD. It celebrates the
golden days of radio with the creative artists who made the shows: the
actors,
the writers, the sound effects artists and the directors. For example,
there are interviews with Ray Erlenborn and Bob Mott (sound effects), as well
as Norman Corwin (director, writer).
For $[removed], you can take home a piece of history rarely seen, and listen
to people who were there.
The orders should be addressed to Dave Parker at PO Box 1671 Los Altos,

My friend Greg Jackson,jr died in Las Vegas last week. He was 64 years old.
I've known him simce 1975 and he truly was one of the good guys. Greg
collected old radio shows, old television shows, comic books. He loved Howdy
Doody. He was the go-to guy for info on anything and always knew where to get
the best bargain. He sent out the best Christmas cards. He was apparently
working on his final stack of cards when he passed.

I can't disagree with the previous list ... they share a common
trait of being mellow baritones. There are probably many others,
but one that comes instantly to my mind is Art Hannes. You may
remember him acting as one of the Mercury Theatre players in the
TV movie "The Night That Panicked America." If I don't have my
memories mixed up, I was surprised that he was tall and bald.
Until then, well, I don't know exactly how imagined the CBS staff
announcer to look, whether he was introducing "The Ed Sullivan
Show" or saying something like, "We interrupt this program for a
CBS Radio NetALERT Bulletin."

Matthew Bullis posted something about audio-book narrator Scott Brick
utilizing
OTR voices in order to reunite with his (Scott's) grandfather. Having worked
in
the field of audio-book recordings, I can tell you that Scott and I hit it off
via OTR and I can further attest to his affinity for OTR. Scott lives on the
West Coast and one time about 5-6 years ago he was flown in to NYC for a
recording session that serendipitously coincided with the same weekend of the
annual FOTR convention in the New Jersey/New York City area. It worked out so
Scott could attend the event.

email to me which I would forward to our readers. If you can help, please
contact Carter directly

 Dear Jay,

Nice to make your acquaintance.

We're making a film here called Gangster Squad. It takes place in 1949.
Based on real events and real people, Gangster Squad could benefit from some
real radio airchecks and radio shows from the period.

We're more focused on music and we want to reflect what might have been on
the radio here in LA at the time. Locally generated and syndicated shows are
both great.

As the Old Time Radio expert with your book and newsletter, I am hoping you
can help us find some airchecks and shows to share with the director.

Any info, advice or material helpful.

Thanks so much,
