Subject: Soap operas saved!
As a lover of old time radio, I was pleased to learn that Agnes Nixon's
soap operas may be saved and sent out on the internet as television
programs.
I hope that works. We have seen that several soaps that have been around
for
many years have been cancelled by television.
Why not resurrect these programs as radio programs? If people
enjoyed watching them on television, maybe they would enjoy hearing
them as radio programs? That way they could even enjoy them while
driving or riding in their cars.
And the cost to the networks would be a fraction of what they cost
as television programs.

Subject: Who Knows What Evil Lurks on Radio Once More?
Please join us for the "Ken Stockinger Live Show" this Tuesday night (July
12th) at 9pm EDT on Radio Once More ([removed]), when our return
special guest (by popular demand) is author Martin Grams Jr. Martin will be
back to again discuss his extremely popular book, "THE SHADOW-The History and
Mystery of the Radio Program, 1930-1954".
We'll also discuss the upcoming 2011 Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention, as
well as other Grams-ian projects.
By the way, be sure to check out Tommy Hancock's "All Pulp" blog at
[removed].
Per Mr. Hancock (regarding Martin's Shadow release): FIVE OUT OF FIVE TIPS OF
HANCOCK'S HAT-The Shadow may know what evil lurks in the hearts of men, but
nobody knows the Shadow radio program and its history like Martin Grams, Jr.
Kudos to you, Martin. Again, please join us this upcoming Tuesday night at
9pm EDT on [removed].

Subject: Suspense and the Radio Hall of Fame
I was glad to see Dixon Hayes' mention of the Radio Hall of Fame Class of
2011. I've had something of a history with the RHOF, as I was asked to write
a number of the brief "biographies" for their past inductees. This year, I
had the honor of sitting on the Steering Committee and, like Dixon, I'm
especially pleased about the upcoming induction of "Suspense."
At this point, the "outer shell" of the Museum of Broadcast Communications
has been completed and the MBC anticipates that the radio exhibitry will be
in place for the November 5 induction ceremony this fall. Information about
the live broadcast induction ceremonies--and the many Golden Age shows and
performers in the RHOF--can be found at [removed]. Hopefully we'll see
some of you there!

Subject: Found Books at Library Sales
When ever I go to a library book sale I look for OTR books. Usually what
are found are the George Burns books "Gracie, a Love Story" and "All My
Best Friends". I buy them so that if anyone on this list doesn't have them
they are available.
You can have multiple copies of them for sale at my cost $2 each plus
postage. Please contact me off list.
