Subject: Welles's newspaper columns

I'm sending out a request for access to Orson Welles's
newspaper columns for a research project. I need
copies of the columns themselves and can't get to the
Lilly Library to study the Welles collection at this
time.
You can contact me offline if you like.
Best,
Steve Kostelecky

Subject: BIRTHS/DEATHS CORRECTION FOR RON SAYLES

02-28-1932 - Don Franck - Vancouver, Canada
actor: Archie "Advs. of Nero Wolfe"

It is Don Francks.
A truly legendary character actor I almost met on several occasions during
my run in Hollywood.
Like most legends you only heard about them leaving just moment before you
arrived at any given event.
I wish him well and a Happy Birthday wherever he is.

Subject: Don Pardo's 90th

I'm a little late mentioning it, but last Friday (Feb. 22 ) was Don Pardo's
90th birthday and on the next night's Saturday Night Live (1st new show since
the strike) they had him on stage with a cake at the end of the show. Showing
his still considerable lung power he blew out the 90 candles quite nicely -or
so I remember - I was half-asleep at the time. A nice tribute.

Subject: Cincinnati OTR Convention

Last year I hosted a film showing at the Cincinnati OTR Convention with film
shorts, cartoons and movie trailers based on old-time radio shows. For the
rest of the day, after I did the morning showing, I received a number of
"Someone just told me what I missed this morning and I wish I knew about it
so I would have arrived to the conventione earier." I am doing the same
again this year, so again I am making this posting. According to Bob
Burchett, the film showing will start at 10:30 Friday morning and run till
11:30.

Films will include:
"Information Please" (a 1942, 10-minute film featuring the entire radio cast)
Fibber McGee and Molly pitching WWII bonds film short
A ten-minute AFRS film of "Mail Call"
A cartoon spoofing old-time radio celebrities
and a few surprises.

See ya all at Cincy!
Martin
