Can anyone help?   Mark's email is <markfarr1@[removed];

My name is Mark Farrington. My father was Fielden Farrington, an announcer
in radio during the thirties, forties and fifties. Later he wrote short
stories, novels, TV soap operas and dramatic scripts for radio.
He and Hyman Brown had worked together in the thirties and forties (I'm
not quite sure of the dates). In the seventies Mr. Brown produced The CBS
Radio Mystery Theater. My father wrote quite a few scripts which aired as part
of this series.
When my father passed I inherited all of his paper work (for lack of a
better term). Among these items were original carbon copy scripts of about a
dozen CBS Radio Mystery Theater broadcasts. All of the titles of which I have
copies are scripts that aired.
I think these scripts are a part of radio history (albeit a small part). I
was wondering if you might know of a radio history archive or a college
radio history program to which these scripts might be donated, or even if you
think there would be any interest at all in them.
I asked this same question of my friend Bill Owen (Bill and I worked
together at ABC some years ago) who recommended that I contact you. Actually,
I
had written you years ago as a part of a search for recordings of my father's
work. As a result of that search I now have six hours of recordings (from
Green Hornet to CBS wartime newscasts to The Romance of Helen Trent).
The CBS Radio Mystery Theater scripts are stored in boxes in my basement
(luckily a dry room) and are in quite good shape.
I hope to hear from you soon.
 Thanks for your consideration.

 Mark Farrington

R. R. King wrote, in identifying "Rocket from Manhattan":

Also confusing is the fact that there happens to be a 1945 Lights Out
episode
called "The Rocket Ship," but that one is by Wyllis Cooper, not Oboler, and
doesn't seem to be circulating.

That's correct. Cooper's "Rocket Ship" is not circulating, but it does, in
fact, exist archivally in the Library of Congress. So it's not totally lost.

Subject: Aldrich Family question

When I first acquired the Aldrich Family episode "Coupon Craze" a few years
ago it was circulating as undated. Recently I noticed that many websites are
selling the episode dated as 40-04-23 (or sometimes 40-04-24). I know that
they are all copying the date from each other.

It is not unusual for new research to discover dates for previously undated
shows. Research on show dates can be done any number of ways such as network
logs, show scripts or newspaper listings. What puzzles me is that for
40-04-23, the Lima News lists the storyline for 40-04-23 as Henry's father
manages to postpone a trial and it notes that Eddie Bracken returns as Dizzy.
This is not the plot of the show however and Dizzy is not in it. It features
a friend named Freddy.

Another reason I think this date was added recently is I noticed that on
[removed] the 2010 version of the Aldrich Family log gives that same date
but the 2008 version of the log does not include the show at all.

It is conceivable the show is from around 1940 because Homer is not in the
show and some of the early shows do not include him and it sounds similar to
other shows from 1940.

The Lima News description has matched well with other shows from 1940. It is
of course possible the plot was changed after being sent to the Lima News,
but what I am wondering is does anyone have any idea how the episode "Coupon
Craze" recently came to be associated with 40-04-23?
