Subject: Vocalists of the Big Band Era on Those Were the
 Days!

This Saturday, "Those Were the Days" (now in its 43rd year) welcomes back big
band historian Karl Pearson for an afternoon of "More Vocalists of the Big
Band
Era." It's a chance to hear rare remote broadcasts featuring bands led by
Count
Basie, Harry James, Glenn Miller, Les Brown, and Jan Savitt-with vocal
performances by Billie Holiday, Jimmy Rushing, Helen Forrest, Buddy Moreno,
Marion Hutton, Ray Eberle, Tex Beneke, Doris Day, and more. Plus, we'll tune
in
to a rare 1943 broadcast of "Kay Kyser's Kollege of Musical Knowledge"! The
fun
begins at 1 pm CST this Saturday on WDCB ([removed] FM in Chicago, [removed]
everywhere else)-and if you can't hear the show live, we'll archive it for one
week at [removed]!

Later in September, "Those Were the Days" will feature our conversation with
Gloria Jean, celebrate the 70th anniversary of "Suspense," and commemorate the
50th anniversary of the end of the Golden Age of Radio! We hope you'll stay
tuned!
