Subject: re: DRAGNET
I'm a big DRAGNET fan, and I'm almost postive that DRAGNET radio scripts were
brought over to TV in more than a few instances.
As for LA based crimes adapted to radio shows, I'm almost positive Jack
Webb's ego,(and Chief
Parker's) would not allow outside LA influence unless the story was so common
that it could be set almost anywhere.

Subject: Dragnet Redux
In answer to Ron Vickery's query about whether DRAGNET adapted radio episodes
onto TV: the classic "for instances" involve the two Christmas-themed
episodes ".22 Rifle for Christmas" and "The Big Little Jesus." Both debuted
on radio and were later broadcast on 1950s TV with the latter being done yet
again in the late 1960s.
BTW, I have the script for a "Dragnet" episode that was adapted for stage,
licensed to local theatre groups, and published by the Samuel French Company.
Co-incidentally, it was a stage adaptation of an episode that aired yesterday
(13th) on Antenna-TV in which a guy is reported to have committed suicide but
the ballistics investigator (played by a veteran radio actor Olan Soule)
determines it was murder.
Turns out, the guy's elderly mother-in-law became enraged and shot him for
grabbing the book she was reading and throwing it into the fireplace. The
book Friday and Gannon retrieve from the fireplace was the Holy Bible.
"That's about the size of it."
