[ADMINISTRIVIA: The "missing link" here apparently pointed to the BBC News
Facebook page for those of you who use the system. For the rest of us, I have
placed a copy of the video in the OTR Digest Shared Folder on pCloud. If you
have access (whcih is completerly free, of course), you should easily find
it. If you don't have access, drop me a note and I'll send you information on
getting hooked-up. There's a lot of audio and video in [removed] --cfs3]

Subject: Help [removed] on a Clue

I calling out for a lifeline here. The son of Elliot Vittes, who wrote so
many OTR crime shows, will be speaking to the Metro Washington OTR Club on
April 21st.

As an introduction, I was going to play a copy of Two on a Clue, the show
Vittes wrote. It was a 15 minute CBS serial with Ned Weaver and Louise Finch
playing a crime-solving married couple, Jeff and Debby Spencer. Alas, I've
misplaced my lone audio copy.

Any Digester have a copy of this show (there's three in circulation.) they
could get to me ?

Thanks,

Jack French

[ADMINISTRIVIA: I sent Jack the only episode I could find quickly, dated Oct.
3, 1944 - if you have additional episodes in your collection, let him know!

 From Those Were The Days

4/11

1921 The first live sports event on radio took place this day over
KDKA. Pittsburgh sports writer, Florent Gibson, gave an account of the
action in the lightweight boxing match between Johnny Ray and Johnny Dundee.

1943 Nick Carter, Master Detective debuted on Mutual.

4/12

1932 The thrill comedy, Joe Palooka, which would also be a popular
comic strip, made its debut on CBS.

1935 - "Your Hit Parade" premiered.

4/17

1933 Backed by the On the Trail portion of the magnificent Grand
Canyon Suite, Johnny Roventini, pillbox hat and all, uttered the words
"Call for Philip Morris" for the first time on radio. The famous phrase
was said in perfect B flat pitch and tone to perfectly match the
accompanying music. This "Call for Philip Morris" phrase became one of
the most famous in all of advertising.

1935 People gathered around to listen for the first time to what would
become the ultimate horror show on NBC, Lights Out.
