I know that Johnny Mack Brown appeared on "All Star Western Theatre"at least
2 or 3 times in the late 1940's. But according to some books I have read,
Johnny Mack Brown had his own radio show in the early 1940's. It was called:
"Under Western Skies". It was on CBS on friday nights from [removed] to 8:30
[removed] co-star was Iskla [removed] hope I got her name [removed] looked up her
name on the internet, but I could find nothing on [removed] all the
information I have on the [removed] anyone out there have any additional
information on this show, please? Also, is there a distinct possibility that
some of those shows exist? I would like to obtain some of those shows, if at
all possible, as I am an avid Johnny Mack Brown fan. Did he ever appear on
any other shows as a guest besides, "All Star Western Theatre" and "Straight
Arrow's Western POW-WOW" at the Hitching Post Theatre in Hollywood?

Pursuant to the lapsed thread about favourite and indomitable radio actors,
I'd like to share a haiku in honour of everybody's favourite Icelando-Canadian
radio [removed] Larry Thor:

"Broadway is my beat--
Times Square, Columbus Circle,
And points in between."

Happy Independence Day!

I guess I must be missing something, but I think Si & Elmer is pretty neat
for the time it was written, performed. If I'm not mistaken it was a little
before, or about the same time Lum N Abner started. I think we take these
shows much to seriously, instead of just enjoying them.

"belanger" wrote:

The voice of the announcer for the late fifties
TV series THE UNTOUCHABLES sounds familier in regards to OTR. I
don't mean Walter Winchell, who did the in-story narrations, but
the regular announcer who introduced and closed out the show
every week. Does anyone know who it was?

I believe the announcer who did the show opening and closing for THE
UNTOUCHABLES was Les Lampson. He did a lot of voice-over work on 1950's and
60's televisions.

Signing off for now,

Stewart

Hello- I was wondering if we could get some discussion on the digest about
OTR on mp3/dvd? I understand that the reason people use dvd to get more
shows on as few a discs as possible, right? Dose this pratice effect the
sound quality in any way. Also I was wondering if any knows why
dealers/sellers that use mp3 on cd don't list the program dates? I think the
dates are really important. I also was wondering if other collects get upset
when they buy mp3 and find that the commericals were cut out. I enjoy the
commericals alot and the programs don't feel complete. Thanks in advance to
every one who contributes on line or off !!

  Lynn

Subject: OTR Convention hotel room

This posting is for anyone attending the Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention
in Maryland in September . . .

A friend of mine is attending as a vendor and since his wife works for a
specific hotel chain, she gets discounts on hotel rooms. Naturally, she and
her family, NOT her friends. He's rooming at the Red Roof Inn across the
parking lot from where the hotel is located. He's getting a room with two
beds and he wants to know if someone wants to split the room with him to cut
the cost in half. (Example: last year he paid $25 per night and the regular
room rate was $[removed] per night and he split the cost of a room with a friend
and only paid $[removed] plus tax.) Id' take it myself but my wife and I have
our own room at the Clarion where the convention is held. He's not on the
internet so I'm posting this for him. First come, first serve. Drop me a
line.

Recently I came across an Old Time Radio paranormal
show called "Long John Nebel". Are there many of these
shows available to the public today? The show sounds
like a precurser to todays Art Bell and some others.
Any opinions or information about Long John?

In response to a question posed by Grant in issue #194, Imagination Theater
is produced in Seattle by Jim French Productions. Larry Albert, a frequent
contributor to this space, can be heard in many of the Imagination Theater p
lays. Larry is Watson in the Sherlock Holmes series as well as playing a not
too
hard boiled private eye in The Adventures of Harry Nile. For more
information about Imagination Theater, you can go to [removed]

At the first of the month Imagination Theater carries a NTR western series,
Powder River, which is produced in Boston by Colonial Radio Theater. For more

All the usual disclaimers apply here. I share Grant's enthusiasm for
Imagination Theater and I believe most subscribers to this newsletter would
also
enjoy this very fine program.
