Subject: Re: Springfield in All 50 States

I think that it's an Urban Legend that all 50 states have a
"Springfield" -- I live in the state of Washington, and we don't have
one, nor does Arizona, Alaska, Utah, Wyoming or Montana. Only Oregon,
California and Idaho have one. And that's just in the Far West. I'm more
geographically challenged the farther east I cast my mental net, but a
MapQuest search ought to be simple enough to establish which states do
and which states don't have a Springfield.

Subject: Jack Armstrong and amnesia

A friend of mine, non member, posed the question below to me and I'm
trying to find the answer. The first part is solved easily enough, the
character is Jack Armstrong. The part about amnesia has me stumped.
Perhaps a sub plot in the serial confused with the half hour shows.
   Any help appreciated. Thanks.

"I'm trying to remember the name of an old-time radio show I used to

It might have been during the latter years that the show was on. As I
remember, he was known by a different name, when under the influence of
amnesia."

In 2001, Ramble House published three volumes of Anthony Boucher's writings
edited by Francis M. Nevins, Cornell Woolrich's biographer. Boucher had a
profound respect for radio and discusses his passion for "Suspense,"
"Ellery Queen," and "Murder Clinic." His capsule mystery reviews for The
San Francisco Chronicle and The New York Times were highly regarded by
mystery fans. These volumes contain hundreds of his clever summations.

What intrigued me is mention of a Hollywood firm called Editorial
Associates. Apparently one of their first jobs was to turn radio plays
heard on "Suspense," into short stories for Suspense Magazine. They also
styled books for publishers and "ghosted" novels.

It looks like the firm was especially active in the forties. Perhaps
another Digest reader might have more information about Editorial
Associates.

In June of 1953, Mary Martin and Ethel Merman appeared on the Ford 50th
Anniversary Show. For the last few months I've been in contact with the
company that owns the rights to this show and they have just come out with
a DVD of the program.

We asked if we could be distributors for this disc and 70 of them just
arrived at my door today. If anyone is interested in owning one of these,
please email me directly.

Does anyone know who currently holds the rights to perform a recreation of an

Who Was That Masked Man? - seven copies ranging in price from to $[removed]
to $[removed]

His Typewriter Grew Spurs - two copies from $[removed] to $[removed]

Another internet book search site is at: <[removed];
found many more copies of "Who Was That Masked Man?" priced as low as
