Hi Everybody,
I am involve in a Halls of Ivy audio cd project. The goal is to put out the
best possible sound of this wonderful series. The first 24 shows have been
transfer from the transcription disc, and we would like to find low
generation of reel to reel or transcription of the rest of the shows. The
collection will be clean up by computer in order for the best sound. Please
contact me for more question. Take care,
Walden Hughes

Subject: Justice Ginsberg Lacks Grounding in OTR
It appears that Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg doesn't
understand The Lone Ranger any more than she understands the takings
clause, based on recent reporting that she calls using only [removed] law to
make Supreme Court decisions a "Lone Ranger" approach.
Evidence here:
[removed]
As we all know, the Lone Ranger didn't work alone and in fact was a model
of collaboration with local law enforcement, civilians and his own partners
such as Tonto and his nephew when solving the problems of others.
What's worse - for OTR to be forgotten or for people to remember it
incorrectly?

Subject: Married OTR couples
X-Converted-To-Plain-Text: from multipart/alternative
X-Converted-To-Plain-Text: Alternative section used was text/plain
Seems to me that there were several married couples on OTR. These
are just a few which came to my mind. See if you can think of any more:
Fred Allen and Portland Hoffa ("Fred Allen Show"), George Burns and
Gracie
Allen ("Burns and Allen"), Dorothy Kilgallen and Richard Kollmar ("Breakfast
with Dorothy and Dick"), Goodman and Jane Ace ("Mr. Ace and Jane", "The
Easy Aces"), Jack Benny and Mary Livingstone ("The Jack Benny Show"),
Jim and Marian Jordan ("Smackout", "Fibber McGee and Molly"), Joan Blondell
and Dick Powell ("Miss Pinkerton, Inc."), and of course, Natalie (Park)
Masters
and Monty Masters ("Candy Matson"). I believe that the woman who played
Jane Stacy on "My Friend Irma" and her husband had a prolific OTR career,
too.
I just can't seem to remember their names. I think she both wrote and
starred
in several shows and he was was mainly a writer.
Can anyone out there think of any others?
Another OTR Fan,
Kenneth Clarke

Subject: Amzie Strickland
I haven't seen this reported here, but Entertainment Insiders is
reporting that Amzie Strickland died on July 5
([removed]). I
know she substituted for Grace Matthews as Margot Lane on several
occasions, though I'm not sure what episodes. (The stuff I've seen
online isn't in agreement--maybe Anthony Toland can chime in here?)
Radiogoldindex lists about 30 appearances for her, though no doubt she
made many more. Apparently she made up to 600 appearances in
television! (And was active until quite recently, with appearances on
ER.) I'll bet she had a lot of great stories to tell.

Subject: final network broadcasts and other stuff
We all know that radio drama "died" in September 1962 when Johnny Dollar
and Gunsmoke went off the air. But that was CBS. What were the last radio
dramas (excluding soap operas, I guess) on ABC, NBC, and Mutual? Do any
copies of the final shows on these networks still exist?
Of radio's many last gasps, I have finally scanned a copy of the official
ABC log of the Theater Five series from 1965. I had gotten a copy from the
director, Warren Somerville, almost 30 years ago. It has recording dates
and broadcast dates. Only one of the listings was not copied (off the edge
of the page) but I know the name of the show and have inserted it. I don't
know the broadcast date. If anyone wants a PDF copy, just e-mail me and let
me know.
I'm looking for Johnny Dollar scripts-- I also have a PDF of the "Clever
Chemist" script if anyone wants that as well.
Thanks!!

Could anyone with knowledge - in person, dogged research,
whatever - tell me how many singers made up the Norman Luboff
Choir and how many musicians would have been in Carmen Dragon's
orchestra? And if you don't know about them specifically, then
how about typically for a program presenting such music? Thanks.
