Bob Tkacz (no email) is wondering whether a list of songs Gracie sang on
the Burns and Allen radio show exist. Apparently she sang quite a few,
including many patriotic ones. His phone in CT is 860-944-7441. Address is
Box 296, Enfield, CT 06083. Thank you. Jay

Subject: [removed] Ward book
The book is titled "[removed] WARD" by David Saunders. Available from
[removed] and is magnificent. It's a large coffee table
book, hardcover with color dust jacket, and worth every penny. Not only does
it include a biography of [removed] Ward, who did a lot of pulp art, but five of
the eleven chapters centers on the oil paintings Ward did for THE LONE
RANGER, SUPERMAN, THE GREEN HORNET and NED JORDAN, SECRET AGENT. And not only
the paintings, but preliminary sketches, proposals that never became oil
paintings, reprints of telegrams between Ward and George W. Trendle, and much
more. Definitely the one and only source for everything Ward. And it was
produced with permission and cooperation of the Ward family (who gave
Saunders permission to reprint the art work since they own the copyrights and
yes, the oil paintings were copyrighted). I just spent part of the evening
reading it and it's wonderful.
By the way, I recommend you buy it from Illustration's web-site. Buying
direct helps benefit the author and the publisher much more than buying from
another web-site.

Subject: More Shield Stories
Folks;
Researcher extrordinare Karl Schadow pointed me to the the Margaret Parker
collection at the Nashville (Tenn) Public Library, which appears to have some
printed material about The Story of the Shield. He also pointed me to an
on-line index of programs which suggests there are three episodes of this
program that exist but are not in general [removed] there may be some
hope episodes of this show will surface one day!
Much thanks to everyone who has helped in this search, and if you discover
additional information, please let me know and I'll continue to consolidate
and post here on the Digest.
