I used to listen to her and Perry Como sing alternative evenings on the
Chesterfield
Supper Club back in the 40's. She had just the voice to suggest a smoke
filled room.
Inspired me to look up Darlene and Jonathan Edwards also butcha can't buy
em all.
if you never heard of this Paul Weston/Jo Stafford collaboration you might
enjoy reading
about it and hearing a few clips.

Subject: Vic and Sade Dates
In a recent OTR newsletter, Andrew Steinberg raised questions about
conflicting dates in 'Vic and Sade' logs. Andrew, you can rule out dates
that show the 15 minute version of the program being broadcast on a Saturday
or a Sunday since this was a weekday offering. Thus Donahue's Doorbell could
not have aired on 2/1/42, a Sunday.
Vic's Office Work at Home could not have been broadcast on 10/26/46, a
Saturday. By then it was a Thursday only show.

Tobacco Company files, but a search of "Type:script" found an entirely
different set of scripts from the RJ Reynolds files.
RJ Reynolds' files were a fresh goldmine with several thousands scripts
archived. Many -- most -- of these were music show continuities, but over a
dozen proved to be significant groups of scripts from series worth reading,

* Abbott and Costello
* Blondie
* The Fat Man
* My Friend Irma
* Mystery In the Air
* Screen Guild Players
* Richard Diamond, Private Detective
These alone list scripts for over 500 episodes online!
Our [removed] website now has links to these and several other shows
I found there, and everyone is welcome to visit.
If anyone else can tease even more original OTR scripts out of this great
resource, let me know. I keep thinking the philip Morris section should have
scripts, but I've been unable to come up with anything.

The Cincinnati Old-Time Radio & Nostalgia Convention is one of the largest
conventions in the country. This will be the 19th year, and it's April
15-16. We always have a few great actors and actresses as guests (though I
believe those are still to be announced). There are great recreations, a
dealer's room full of great radio shows (on ALL formats), classic movies,
comics, autographs, movie posters and probably more things that I'm
forgetting, and very friendly people. I may be biased as one of the
promoters is the president of my OTR club , but it's literally my favorite
weekend of the year.

Is there a good source that lists when and where the various OTR conventions
are going to be? I always seem to hear about them after the fact when people
are writing about how much fun they had!
I might also mention Lou Genco's site [removed] has a page that lists
conventions. These are updated by various people including myself as the
info comes available.

You can also get there from my own main web page [removed] by

He's knowledgable (especially in the Horror niche), he's a good CD
trader, and - (though a bit OT) - he's one HECK of a graphic artist. (You
should see his genre portraits!)
Thanks, Craig, for the kind words. If anyone is interested I have
portraits of Arch Oboler and Ed Gardner on my site. Here's the link:

I listened for the first time today to the WTIC 1970s
interview with Goodman Ace that included some
marvelous excerpts from Easy Aces shows, including
some done in front of a live audience. Anyone have
approximate dates of such shows?

Subject: Never Appeared
If anybody still cares, I listened to an all-star broadcast of the Eddie
Cantor Show today from 6-9-43. Eddie was celebrating his 29th wedding
anniversay and Ida was there and was introduced and received a big hand
from the audience, but alas once again she never uttered a word on mike.
I don't know if that counts as an appearance on OTR or not.
Guests included Jack Benny, Burns and Allen, and Groucho Marx, as well
as Dinah Shore,Bert Gordon and Harry Von Zell.
I'm sure that if I was listening to that show in 1943 that I would have
thought Eddie Cantor really ancient as he was married 29 years.
Listening today however with my 46th anniversary coming this year, he
seems downright young. Jeez! I just realized that my youngest daughter
and son in-law will celebrate their 22nd this year. I am ancient!
