One show that lasted much longer on OTR than on TV was Captain Midnight.
The epic OTR serial spanned 11 years (1938 through 1949. The TV show
lasted about half that long.

The 800 number and the internet will give the wrong rate for the convention.
Even so book the room. I have been assured by Isabel, head of reservations,
that the rooms will be $[removed] when you get there. Just mention FOTR upon
arrival.

I was hoping to find more information about Jack French's question about a
Jack Webb audition circa 1946. In the process I discovered the Bay Area Radio
Museum which is for now only an online museum.
"The Bay Area Radio Museum is an online collection of audio recordings,
documents and photographic images pertaining to the history and development of
radio broadcasting in the San Francisco Bay Area. The materials found within
the collection were contributed from a variety of sources, including local
radio stations and private collectors, and are intended for the non-commercial
use of the public."
I did find a broadcast which included Jack Webb in the 30th Anniversary of San
Jose station KQW (now KCBS), broadcast November 10, 1945 and available for
listening to.

The first inductees into the Hall of Fame of this young museum were named in
October 2006. Among the 'pioneer' inductees were Carlton Morse and Al Pearce.
Ira Blue, part of the 1946 audition which included Jack Webb is an inductee of
the 'modern' period, very popular in the
It's an interesting website and includes a lot of history and many
photographs.

Further to Frank Mcgurn's message, I have been collecting OTR since 1967
and have amassed over that time in excess of. 5000 cassettes. Because I worry
about the difficulty of obtaining new cassette players when the old ones
wear out, I have purchased extra cassette players and recorders for future
use.
Like Frank I find that the sound of my earliest cassette is as good now
as it was 40 years ago. I have dropped cassettes many times and don't have to
worry about bending or warping . I wonder if this would be true for CDs or
DVDs? Do any of you have an opinion as to how durable the new discs are when
compared to traditional cassettes?
