Subject: Dick Powell on "Those Were the Days"
This Saturday, Those Were the Days puts the spotlight on the radio work of
Dick Powell, who started out as a boy singer and became the hardest of
hard-boiled character actors. Please join us to hear Powell as a guest on
"Hollywood Open House," a 1944 "Old Gold Comedy Theatre" and a 1936
"Hollywood Hotel"--and as the star of "Rogue's Gallery" (where he
accidentally cuts loose with an expletive you didn't hear much on the air
back then) and "Richard Diamond, Private Detective."
Those Were the Days is heard live every Saturday from 1 to 5 pm on WDCB-FM
([removed] in Chicagoland; [removed] everywhere else). The show is archived for
one week after broadcast at [removed].

I've listened to a couple of Richard Diamond shows recently where the actor
portraying Walt Levinson didn't sound like Ed Begley.
Arthur Q. Bryan replaced Ed Begley and played the part of Lt. Walt Levenson
later in the run of the show.

Subject: Richard Diamond and Walt
Hello, Anne. Ed Begley was only the first of several actors to play Walt
Levinson on Richard Diamond. He departed after the first year of the show
and was replaced by Ted de Corsia for a few months.
After de Corsia came Arthur Q. Bryan, who is best known as the voice of
Elmer Fudd in the Bugs Bunny cartoons. Bryan was a regular on radio,
appearing as Doc Gamble on Fibber McGee and Molly and as Floyd the barber on
The Great Gildersleeve.
The final actor to play Walt was Alan Reed, who had many roles on radio
until he became the voice of Fred Flintstone in 1960. Reed's radio credits
included various supporting roles on The Shadow, The Life of Riley, Duffy's
Tavern, Escape and as Pasquale on Life With Luigi.
