Thought it might be worth noting that Radio Classics, Radio Spirits and Radio
Vault, which are all the same company, appear to have withdrawn "Amos 'n'
Andy." The series no longer appears on any of the three websites.

I enjoy the "this week in radio history" drawn from "Those Were
the Days" and sent by Joe Mackey, but misinformation arises from
time to time. For example:

6/1
1936 The Lux Radio Theater moved from New York City to
Hollywood.
Cecil B. DeMille, the program's host on the NBC Blue network,
introduced Clark Gable and Marlene Dietrich in The Legionnaire
and the Lady.

Lux began in mid-October of 1934 on the Blue Network of NBC, but
in late July of '35, it switched to CBS and remained in New York
(where the emphasis was on Broadway play adaptations) through May
25, 1936. Just a week later, the series had moved to Hollywood to
re-create motion pictures for its listening audience, with
DeMille as host for the first time and featuring Gable and
Dietrich in "The Legionnaire and the Lady.'

The shows were first broadcast from the Music Box Theatre (now
called the Henry Fonda Music Box Theatre) on Hollywood Blvd.,
followed by residency a few blocks away on Vine Street, where a
legitimate theater-turned-movie theater was bought by CBS and
renamed the CBS Radio Playhouse (today, the Ricardo Montalban
Theatre). Finally, Lux moved a few blocks more to Sunset Blvd.
and the newly constructed Columbia Square studios, which opened
in late April 1938.

I checked with a former OTR collector, Ron Barnett, now retired, but still a
Jack Benny fan. This is what he found:

o;?There may have been additional appearances by the Colemans, but not listed
in the individual program description. The list that follows is based upon the
individual thumbnail program descriptions.

1945 12-9 1st Colemanbs bI canbt stand Jack Benny becauseb
1945 12-23 The Colemanbs English Butler
1946 4-14 Jackbs violin practice bothers Ronald Coleman
1946 11-17 Guest- Ronald Coleman
1947 4-27 Leaving for Chicago with the Colemans
1948 2-01 Jack and Mary see Ronald Colmanbs movie
1948 3-21 Ronald Colman wins the Oscar
1948 3-28 Jack borrows Ronbs Oscar. It is then stolen ( byour money
or your lifeb)
1948 5-03 What really happened to Colemanbs Oscar
1948 10-24 The Colemans have dinner at Jacks
1949 1-16 Trading places with Ronald Coleman
1949 3-06 At the racetrack with Ronald Coleman
1949 11-13 Jack visits Coleman on a movie set
1950 10-29 How Jack met the Colemans
1951 2-18 Jack watches TV with the Colemans (last appearance?)

Note: Ronald Coleman also hosted and sometime acted in the syndicated
anthology series, bFavorite Storyb. Recommended for Coleman fans. There
are more than 50 programs available in that series.

Folks;

While we're spending more time at Chez Charlie, we've been watching a
number of television programs. We just started watching the Netflix series
Space Force. In episode three, when Steve Carell's General Mark Naird goes to
Washington to testify before Congress, one of his main questioners, Rep. Bob
White, is portrayed by OTR's own Tommy Cook! Cook, of course, was Red Ryder's
Little Beaver, as well as Junior on The Ligfe of Riley. He was also a
frequent guest at various OTR conventions around the country, including
Newark's FOTR and Seattle's REPS.

If you get the time, give it a watch!
