The H. B. Warner who was one of the judges on the Gateway to Hollywood radio
program was obviously Harry Warner of the Warner Brothers movie studio.
Jim, you're obviously a little confused. [removed] Warner was a well known
character actor. WB studio president Harry Warner's middle initial
was M., according to his granddaughter Cass:

Dunning's Encyclopedia of Old Time Radio shows Rudy Vallee's program from
1944 to 1946 named as Villa Vallee. I can't find any confirmation that that
was the usual name of the program and I have some Rudy Vallee programs from
that time period that do not mention Villa Vallee. Can anyone confirm that
was or was not the name of the show during those years?

Ron said, "I saw Sheldon Leonard do his Jack Benny tout routine with Andy
Griffith."
My introduction to Sheldon Leonard was the character on Sesame Street that
kept trying to talk Ernie into harebrained schemes. Don't know to this day
if it was actually Leonard or an impersonation, but somebody remembered OTR!

OK, I admit it, I goofed. Sorry! In my hurried manner, without checking, I
should have known that Harry Warner of the Warner Brothers movie studio was
[removed] Warner, but I had forgotten. Thanks for all who set me straight on the
actor [removed] Warner. So, was he the one who was also one of the judges on the
radio show contest which was won by the young lady who became Gale Storm?

Subject: Barrie Craig bridge music
I'm still looking for information on the bridge music used in Barrie Craig.
I did get a couple more pieces of information about the music in questions.
My friend says that it is also used on The Shadow, in particular these two
episodes: "The House That Death Built" [1/25/48] & "The Nursery Rhyme
Murders" [2/22/48]). If you can give me any information on the bridge music
used on these episodes, I'll greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Tim

Since my reference in an earlier posting to [removed] Warner as a Hollywood titan
led to correction and controversy, I felt obliged to listen once more to the
broadcast wherein Josephine Cottle became Gale Storm. I can confirm that
[removed] was the actor and most definitely not an industry titan. However,
the show's host, Jesse Lasky, surely rates that title. He formed his first
production company in 1914, subsequently gaining control of Famous Players
and later Paramount.

Leah Biel did a documentary with the assistance of her father, Mike Biel.
Anyone who attends the Cincy and FOTR conventions knows Mike and his daughter.
Titled "FOR THE RECORD" it's really, really good. I told Mike that it was
very enjoyable (especially the road sign that you have to see in the opening)
and he told me he has it on a web-site available with YouTube clips and
info on how to order a copy. Leah obviously put some time and love into this
and it definitely comes recommended.
