I guess this can't go beyond speculation, but who knows? Contributors
here a remarkable range of arcane [removed]
I have never been a fan of "slice-and-dice" horror movies, the
_Nightmare on Elm Street_ franchise being no exception. Villains with
god-like powers are just as boring as heroes with god-like powers.
But I always thought Freddy Kruger was an amusing name for a monster;
Freddy sounds so ordinary.
Yesterday I was listening to an episode of Suspence titled "The
Crisis of Dirk Diamond." It featured a character called Freddy who
haunted who appears in the dreams of the protagonist and seems to
pose a real tangible threat to the hero (a comic strip artist) and
those around him. What are the odds that, 25 years after the Suspense
episode aired, Wes Craven recalled a story that had haunted HIS
dreams as a child, ever since, perhaps, lying in his bed listening to
the show when his parents thought he was asleep, as I so often did,
and drew upon those memories for his horror series?

Mark Kinsler writes:
According to everything I have read, Mr Webb had both a good sense of humor.
I can also attest to that because there was always this rumor around
Hollywood that Jack wore red socks and nothing but.
I always doubted the authenticity of that until one night I walked into
my favorite eatery, Musso & Frank's restaurant om Hollywood Boulasvard in the
late '70s.
This would have been after my previous story about Jack, whom I always
loved by the way for his radio background as well as a fine performance in
SUNSET BOULEVARD.
When you walk in the door of Musso & Franks restaurant from the street
side as opposed to the parking lot side which is where most of the
recognizable people go, you look to the left and there are the booths.
One afternoon at lunch I made that journey only to be shocked as I
entered on a hot afternoon to see a pair of bright red socks on a pair of
crossed
legs sitting on the outside of the booth.
It was Jack Webb.
We nodded.
I moved to the counter where the real people ate.
The chef was Jean Louis who had been there for fifty years.
Anyone know what I'm talking about with Musso's?

Subject: OTR Death
OTR actress Barbara Eiler died July 16, 2006 in Sherman Oaks, California.
She was 79. She is probably best remembered as the perennial teenage
daughter/girlfriend on West Coast comedies such as "The Life of Riley" on
which she played Riley's daughter Babs from 1947 on. Radio Gold has 262
listings for her. Her TV credits include "Wagon Train" and "The Donna Reed
Show."

Subject: Jack Webb
Jack was a great personality and seemed like a very nice person. The Tonight
show appearence with Johnny carson is a classic. It was about the theft of
Mr Cooper's copper clappers, coped from his closet. Both Jack & Johnny kept
a straight face
No one has mentioned that Jack was once married to singer Julie London, a
she could "Cry Me A River"' any time, and a very, very attractive woman and
with a sexy voice.

Subject: CROSBY
A number of years ago I was able to acquire two publications from the
late Larry Kiner. The two items I speak of are:
A) DIRECTORY & LOG OF THE BING CROSBY CREMO SINGER RADIO SERIES (NOVEMBER
1931 TO DECEMBER 1932)
VOLUME 2 (1973) AND
B) DIRECTORY & LOG OF THE BING CROSBY MUSIC THAT SATISFIES: 1933 RADIO
SERIES (1976)
VOLUME 3
I AM MOST ANXIOUS TO ACQUIRE VOLUME 1 OF THE KINER SERIES AS WELL AS
VOLUME 4 IF THERE WAS ONE AND WOULD LIKE TO CONTACT ANYONE WHO MIGHT BE
WILLING TO PROVIDE ME WITH A PHOTO COPY OF THE VOLUMES I AM LOOKING FOR.
