Thank you, Michael Laurino! I recognized Frank Nelson immediately, but "the
tout" was definitely not Sheldon Leonard. I'll be following to see where
this goes.

Does anyone have the video ... or just the audio ... of Tom
Snyder's Tomorrow program during which he interviewed surviving
cast members of Amos 'n' Andy -- or if a copy might be available
somewhere? Thanks.

I know the SPERDVAC catalog had (has?) around 23 episodes of the "Earplay"
series available. I've only heard three episodes myself and thought it was
an intriguingly high-minded program. I'd be interested in learning more
about the show myself.

Subject: Vale Moris Sztajer

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Moris Sztajer. His
name is not well known to OTR Researchers, however he was a close friend of
mine and he was responsible for our success in documenting and databasing
Australian OTR. Whilst [removed] OTR has been logged and documented for many
years, Australian OTR wasn't. About 12 years ago Moris and I separately
discovered OTR and then discovered that Australian OTR was undocumented and
unidentified or misidentified. We met online then set about our plans to
document Australian OTR. The National Film and Sound Archives told
parliament in an annual report that they had documented about 700 Australian
Produced series and serials and believed there may have been as many as
1,500 produced. Moris and I have so far documented over 6,000 and our
database is now on computers in the National Film and Sound Archives library
in Canberra for the use of researchers.

Over the last few years we have assisted [removed] producers and OTR Authors and
researchers with information and we have tried to answer all questions that
came our way.

The research and documentation will continue in both our names. Moris will
be sorely missed, not just because he had the website passwords and forgot
them :) but because without him the projects would never have happened. I
am great with ideas but distractions always keep me from finishing without
constant reminders. I knew his end was close and my wife and I flew to
Melbourne to say Good Bye and meet his wife Anne for the first time, though
we had been emailing over the last couple of months of Moris' illness. I
always made sure he got his name in books and credit lists as contributor
and I will continue to do so.

The Australian OTR website will continue (when I get the passwords sorted
out) and will be updated as soon as I learn html or convince my business
partner who does write html, that it would be a good thing for him to work
on in his dwindling spare time.
