Subject: new Mel Blanc book!

My new book on Mel Blanc is out here now:

[removed];product_id=541

and on amazon. Over 700 pages, including a MASSIVE credit list, discography
(thanks to Walt Mitchell) and index, something Mel's own book lacked, I'm
sorry to say. My book also includes Noel's unpublished autobiography of his
dad. I just spoke with Noel today, and he couldn't stop raving about the
book. In fact, he wants me to Fedex him another copy of the book tomorrow so
he can give it to Hugh Heffner on Sunday. It seems Hugh plays Mel's cartoons
every weekend in the Mansion. I'm supposed to autograph it "to Hugh",
definitely the only time in my life I'll be doing that!

Subject: One thing leads to another

So, the Women in Radio presentation I did led to a more complete OTR
presentation at our local history museum and that, indirectly, led to a
piece on our TV news.

I was having an adult beverage at one of our local breweries with a
former student, now a journalist for a local TV station. He asked about
the presentation I did and I told him about how I brought in how I used
"found sounds," that is, old tape recordings, to learn about local
history. He was very interested so he and a videographer ended up
coming over to my house to tape an interview. He really has a gift for
this and the story turned out quite well.

You can watch it here:
