Subject: Norman Corwin and Those Were the Days
I just wanted to remind everyone that our radio show Those Were The Days is
preparing for two major anniversaries. This Saturday from 1 to 5 on WDCB
([removed]), it's our 40th anniversary broadcast, and we'll be joined by
original TWTD host (and Radio Hall of Famer) Chuck Schaden, who will share
some memories from his many years at the mike (and some of the many voices he
got to meet over the years). We'll also hear from the West End Jazz Band, and
actors Tim Kazurinksy (ex-Saturday Night Live) and Ben Hollis, as we
re-create some classic moments from radio's Golden Age with some of the TWTD
Radio Players.
Then, on May 1, we're honoring the 100th birthday of the great Norman Corwin,
with an afternoon featuring four of his greatest shows: "The Odyssey of
Runyon Jones," "We Hold These Truths," "The Undecided Molecule," (featuring
Robert Benchley, Groucho Marx, Keenan Wynn and Sylvia Sidney) and "On a Note
of Triumph" (a piece that Carl Sandburg called "one of the all-time great
American poems.")
If you live in the Chicago area, you're welcome to join us every Saturday
afternoon at [removed] FM, and worldwide you'll find us at [removed].
I should also point out that the Spring issue of Nostalgia Digest Magazine
includes an interview with Mr. Corwin and an excerpt from his new book, One
World Flight. You can learn more about that at [removed].
