Subject: Sale of MediaBay and XM Radio Classics
  Future

Someone mentioned how the radio classics XM (and Sirius) stations will
go without MediaBay. I hope they find another source to get new shows
from. I'm a 36 year old who stumbled onto OTR around Christmas time last
year and it's been a "horrible" addiction since. The XM radio in my car
had been having issues and the OTR channel on XM is one of the reasons I
got the darn thing fixed. I spend my time in the car swapping between
the OTR channel, the 40's channel, and my iPod which I typically rotate
around 30 to 40 shows a week on so I can listen to OTR while working or
on the car ride home. Hopefully XM and Sirius will find new suppliers
for new shows and continue to broadcast.

And as usual, things are not that simple. A number of courts have
held that performance of a work on radio does not constitute
publication. So otr scripts tend to be unpublished works. These, if
created prior to 1 January 1976, are not protected by Federal
copyright law, but they are protected by "common law" copyright under
the laws of most states. So you cannot assume that most otr is in
the public domain.

I'm not really allowed to say anything about what happened or why, but it does seem clear that they are trying to sell Radio Spirits. I do hope that someone worthy takes up the torch. Sadly, I don't think that there's much hope that I'll be able to find another OTR related job. Meanwhile, I continue to read the Digest and listen to the modest amount of OTR that I have been able to collect over the past several years. My first memory of the man was as the accountant in "It's A Wonderful Life" who told Mr. Potter off by defending the hero, George Bailey. IMHO, no one could have played that particular role other than Charles Lane. Many of the other roles I remember him in were basically as crotchety old fussbudget type men. He was an excellent character actor, and one of the few actors who could take a small part and not only make it memorable, but make it his own. His age at the time of his death, I believe, was 102 years old. She passed away this Dec 2006 at the age of 94. We are having a memorial service for her July 30, 2007. I am trying to gather any information I can get for her memorial. I've found a resume that shows she was in: Stepmother It Can Be Done Kitty Keene Judy and Jane she was suppose to have played Jane Trouble with Marriage Carters of Elm Street Milky Way Winners ???do you know what that was? She played Joyce in Captain Midnight. She was in Blondie's Lucky Day (movie) She was suppose to be involved in a program that Johnnie Neblett did, I think it was Weird Tales. One website shows, she was in a whole bunch of The Great Gildersleeve, I can't find any information on the cast list. Some where out on the internet there was mention of Ma Perkins. I am trying to find any memorabilia related to her career in radio. Audio, scripts, photos, newspaper articles etc. Also any info as a couple with Wyn Orr or Johnny Neblett. She was married to Wyn Orr, I believe in June 1935. She was married to Johnnie Neblett, don't know the date, late 1945 or early 1946. He died in a plane crash. She was married to James Dudley, sportscaster in 1950. Do you know where I can get a nice copy of her resume? The one I found, was on the Whistler's site on the internet. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
