Subject: Rare OTR gems available
I seem to make mention of this once a year and with the surprise I'm about to
describe it seems only fitting to post another reminder. My web-site,
[removed], offers a number of films on DVD that are not available
anywhere else. Every month I make a couple rare film gems related to old time
radio available, and this month I seem to have one that shouldn't go
overlooked. (And I'm not talking about HER MASTER'S VOICE from 1936 or
SECRETS OF THE UNDERGROUND from 1942 (formerly intended to be a MR. DISTRICT
ATTORNEY movie) which is also being offered.)
>From 1941 to 1942, Hedda Hopper hosted a series of six film shorts, each
providing a candid look at Hollywood behind-the-scenes. Naturally,
celebrities were available at her beckoning. William S. Hart, retired, gives
Hopper a tour of her ranch. A dog training school for celebrity pooches is
highlighted. The White House of Hollywood offered a look at Pickfair when
Mary Pickford opened her doors for [removed] troops and dozens of Hollywood
celebrities. But it seems a large percentage of the shorts are devoted to
radio broadcasts. Kay Kyser and his College of Musical Knowledge take a
break between radio rehearsals to talk to the Hollywood gossip columnist.
You can see Bob Hope and Jerry Colonna rehearsing their next radio
broadcast. And one film short offers us a trip to the home of Chet Lauck,
with his business partner, (LUM AND ABNER) and their children at play at the
home.
If you like old time radio film gems, and there's a ton of them made
available, HEDDA HOPPER'S HOLLYWOOD is a must-see. Cost me almost a
three-digit figure to acquire all six of them so I'd like to make most of my
money back if possible.

Subject: THE BARRY HILL BRITISH RADIO COLLECTION
The Barry Hill British radio recording collection is still
intact and now for sale. Nearest guesstimate is 250,000 programs
on reel-to-reel, CD's, audio cassetters, transcriptions, DAT's and
VHS hifi audio. The programs date from the early 50's to the
early 90's. Included are many pirate radio and European
broadcasts. There are no American radio shows.
Barrry's collection is substantial in size and "rich" in quality
considering the years that Barry devoted to it. The current owner
(not me) would consider serious offers for the entire collection.
Please respond by e-mail with a BBC INQUIRY and a brief
message to the owner. The collection is available in its entirety
only and has not been picked over. It's being stored in a
warehouse near New York and will require a medium-sized truck to
remove. Domestic or overseas shipment can be arranged.
