On the June 23, 1942 episode of Fibber McGee and Molly, Fibber locks the
keys to his suitcase inside the suitcase. He ponders how to get it open, and
suggests using dynamite. Molly replies, "Fibber McGee!" and chides him for
considering using the explosive. This is one of the only times I'm aware of
that she called him by his proper name.

On Thursday afternoon at 4PM (Eastern time), Turner Classic Movies is
showing "The Unsuspected," a highly enjoyable mystery film from 1947
with Claude Rains. The story centers around a murder at the estate of
the producer of a "true crime" radio drama. The entire film is
excellent, but of particular interest to OTR fans are several scenes
that take place in the studio where the live radio drama is being
produced. I won't give away too much, but large 16-inch transcription
discs figure in to the story as well! If you subscribe to TCM, it's
well worth taking a look.

Subject: hear Eddie Carroll as Jack Benny
If you'd like to hear Eddie Carroll starring in Jack Benny's role in The Horn
Blows at Midnight, in my 30 Minutes to Curtain production of the show at the
SPERDVAC 2004 convention, there are six days left to hear it online. Here's
how:
1. Go to [removed]
2. On the left under
MAIN MENU click on Audio Archives
3. Scroll down to
Tuesday, May 4, 2010 12:01 am
4. Click on Play in the far right column
5. "The Horn Blows at
Midnight" starts playing about 12 minutes into the show
I believe that this was the first time that Eddie played Jack Benny in
a radio show other than the Jack Benny Show. He was wonderful!
