Wow, that's potentially very exciting news! I hope the first one isn't one
of the same ol' same ol' ones that exists, but is missing a few eps, like
Temple of Vampiires, or Battle of the Century, but instead one of the truly
lost ones.
I'm partial to the dark house ones, like Blood on the Cat, or the Case of
the Transplanted Castle (that one was really good).
If production values are even moderately decent, I'll be very excited to
pick up all the non-existing ones.

Subject: new book available
Two books covering old-time radio:
My latest book on CAR 54, WHERE ARE YOU? was just recently published through
Bear Manor Media. Spent a quick half hour looking over the finished product
this afternoon. ([removed]) While it concentrates on the TV
series, it covers a good bit of ground with Nat Hiken and his pre-TV (Sgt.
Bilko, Car 54) work including the Milton Berle Show, the Magnificent Montague
and the Fred Allen Show.
My own web-site, [removed] now has a sneak peak at the next book,
SCIENCE FICTION THEATRE (1955-57) and will also be released through Bear
Manor. Those wondering what the sci-fi TV series has to do with old-time
radio probably hasn't seen the program. Radio announcer Truman Bradley was
the host of the TV series, best known for The Red Skelton Show, The George
Burns and Gracie Allen Show, Jack Armstrong the All-American Boy and other
radio programs and his personal and professional career is covered
extensively thanks to radio historian Jim Cox. Patrick Lucanio also helped
contibute a chapter about Frederic Ziv, the pioneer of syndicated radio
programs such as The Cisco Kid, Favorite Story, Philo Vance, It's Showtime
from Hollywood, Boston Blackie, Calling All Cars, Old Corral, Dearest Mother,
Mr. District Attorney and many others. This is far more extensive than the
November 2001 issue of SPERDVAC's Radiogram.
The book naturally covers the TV series in-depth right down to the talent
fees for each and every actor for each episode, dates of production, etc. but
these two chapters alone are worthy for anyone who longs to learn more about
Bradley and Ziv. I invited Patrick and Jim to participate because they had
previously covered ground on those subjects and I certainly couldn't offer a
great treatment without their participation. A sneak peak is on the site with
rare behind-the-scenes photos.
And for those wondering [removed] yes, my next book will be solely old-time
radio related.

Subject: About WIS Radio
Bill Knowlton asked:
A friend from Columbia SC tells me that WIS has changed its call call
letters,
forced to do so because the FCC won't let new owners of a radio station keep
its old three letter calls. Anybody know if this is true?
It's kind of true, but with a twist. As far as I can tell from a quick
look at station websites and Wikipedia, in 1995, the then-owners of WIS (AM
560) moved the brand to another station that they owned or had a local
marketing agreement with --- WOMG/AM 1320. Today, AM 1320 in Columbia calls
itself WIS in casual I-D's, but the legal I-D is now WISW. I suspect that AM
1320 is not a clear channel signal and so could not use a three-letter call
sign for that reason.
Meanwhile AM 560, the former WIS is now WVOC. WIS stands for "Wonderful
Iodine State". WVOC stands for "Voice of Columbia". Nowadays, Clear Channel
owns WVOC and Citidel owns WISW.
Both stations have websites where they stream their programming.
