Subject: Obscure Program
An acquaintance of mine has got a hold of a NBC produced 16" ET(vinyl
pressing) of a program called Wings Over The World which was produced by the
Sixth Ferrying Group of the Air Transport Command, billeted at Long Beach
Calif.
It features the comedic stylings of Private George Durgom in some banter with
the "pilot" of that particular broadcast, Bing Crosby.
It has a plain white label with typewritten information of: "Wings Over The
World"
August 4, 1943
Part 1/2
In the runout grooves the matrices are:
HD3-MM6422-1
HD3-MM6423-1
The announcer identifies it as the Blue Network.
Can Anybody give him some information about this recording? I have checked in
6 reference books and find no mention of it.
Thanks
George Aust

Subject: seeking Fred Allen letters
I'm putting together The Complete Letters of Fred Allen, mostly from the
Boston Public Library. But I know for a fact that their collection doesn't
contain All the letters that Fred wrote, as I have a few letters from Alan
Reed Jr. than Fred wrote to Jr.'s dad, and they aren't in the Boston
collection. Plus, there's a file in the FA collection there which contains
all the Return to Sender envelopes that Portland sent to the people she knew
Fred had written to, when she was compiling the previous Selected Letters of
FA book. I made a list of those names, and will post it here later, so that
hopefully someone can give me a lead into the families who might still have
these. Meantime, if anyone knows someone who has FA letters, PLEASE pass my
plea on to those people - and pass this on to other OTR organizations that
might help. I'm sending the same message Sperdvac for inclusion in Radiogram,
but that's the only other one, so please help if you can. I really
want the book to be as Complete as possible. THANKS.

Subject: Eveready Hour Fragment
George Wagner wrote:
There appears to be extant one solitaty, fragmentary broadcast of
theEveready Hour, from 1928. Can anybody here help me to track it down? It
seems to be the one bit of1920s broadcast material that I'm missing.
(Although so much has turned in injust the past year that I hesitate to be
dogmatic.) I have a hyperlink to an FM station's archives, which apparently
holdsthe broadcast, but when I use the link all I get is that station's LIVE
feed.
The program on WFMU was Thomas Edison's Attic. The home page, with links to
each episode is here

You'll have to go thru the playlists to find the episode with the Eveready
Hour fragment. As I recall there is no announcer heard, it's just like
listening to a live recording of a performance (unusual enough for the
1920s). There are recordings of early radio programs on 2 or 3 of the TE
Attic programs.

Subject: Gangbusters Requests
Hi all. Am looking for two episodes of Gangbusters I know to be in
circulation.
1. The Case of the Cowboy Killers: Gangsters hold up a series of bars in one
night, staying just ahead of the cops.
2. Not sure of the title of this one, but its about a bandit who plays the
jazz clarinet as a hobby. He ends up in a battle with police and hides in a
pig pin trough, but dies there because of infected bullet wounds.
If anyone has these to trade or sell, please contact me off list.
